Large Presentation or Gift Box

Description: Large hinged, lidded box, veneered all around in a striking 'golden flame maple' burl. Laquer and beeswax finish producing a piano gloss surface. Lined in black ultrasuede. Featuring a marquetry butterfly escutcheon and state of the art solid brass quadrant hinges. Brass and gold plate key and lock.

Additional Comments: This kind of box can be commissioned in a veneer or solid wood and size of your choosing.

Decorative Box making

Boxes hold a special fascination: The shape, colour and feel of the wood, finding a lid to lift, a tray to slide or a door to open, wondering what secret might be hidden inside, these are the mysterious qualities of a unique, personally designed, hand made box. Who wouldn’t be drawn to open the box and discover its secrets?

The perfect gift

Many of my commissions have been gifts for someone very special. Of course they are often jewellery boxes but boxes can hold so much more; letters, mementoes, buttons, marbles, memorabilia, stationery, pencils, pens, aromatherapy oils, the list is endless. If you have something that you would like to see in a box we can create that box together.

Decorative and personalised

Wood is a beautiful material to work with. From the natural figure of the wood itself to the use of specially coloured veneers and inlays, I aim to make a box that it is attractive in its own right and will intrigue the recipient tempting her, or him, to look inside!

Inlays and ornament

Because I work to commission, and because I support you as much or as little as you require along the way, your finished box will be your design with your choice of woods, hinges and locks, inlays and ornament, linings and interior materials and will therefore, of course, be unique!
